Community Welfare Foundation Bangladesh (CWFB) is a non-government voluntary organisation in Bangladesh. Primarily we have been working in rural development since 1995. One of our primary objectives is socio-economic development of the rural poor people through women development, environmental protection, agriculture development and human resources development.
At present our main aim and objective is protection of environmental pollution through social forestry program side by side other social development work by our own resources and fund. We have given the title to this program of "GREEN REVOLUTION".
It is well known that Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated and poorest countries in the world. Here, 2850 people live per square mile. There is only 16% area of forest in this country. It is not sufficient at all to keep the natural balance. Besides, building houses, solving fuel problem and growing food crops for the increasing population, every year trees are cut and marshy land is filled. As a result the natural balance is greatly hampered and natural calamities like cyclone, tornado, drought over rain fall, flood and tidal surge often hit the country. Our organisation is always aware against the destruction of forest and filling up of the marshy land.
This organisation has taken various kinds of steps to control the environment pollution through homestead reforestation, roadside reforestation, fallow land reforestation, pond bank reforestation, coastal reforestation and homestead vegetable cultivation with in our small range and limited resources. Besides this it has engaged in meetings, posters, booklets, leaflets to make the people aware of it. From grassroots level we have decided to spread this green revolution (social forestry program) all over the country in the near future through transformation to the model of such type of eco-village in spite of our limited resources.
