The village and farm is being developed on 34 hectares next to Aldinga, a small township on the coast, 44 km south of Adelaide, South Australia. Designed using permaculture principles, it aims to meet the specific needs of artists. Galleries, performance space, sculpture court, amphitheatre, studios and tuition rooms are all being designed into the village. Of the 152 sites, 32 plus 12 co-operative rental housing sites have already been bought (Planning approval and approval of the design by the relevant Authority is nearing completion and clear indications are that these will be forthcoming in a few weeks). The planning process and final purchase of the land is expected to be completed by the end of March 2000. Aldinga Arts Eco-village has found some support from the Bendigo bank.
