Located on UNESCO world heritage Jeju Island, South Korea the Irang Ecovillage project is a community based on the principals of permaculture. It is an example of how sustainable agriculture, and smart design go hand in hand with social, and ecological well being.
The purpose of Irang Ecovillage is to create a model of sustainable living in South Korea, that combines smart design with social, and ecological well being.
We first started as a spiritual group(Suseonjae). Founded in 1998, we have been doing the breathing practice.
Our community is specialized in three things: teaching people on city farming, communion with the Earth and meditation, help people to build eco-village.
There are about 200 members live in the Seonae-ville. We have six Seonae villes throught Korea and they are all connected to one another.
We have another 200 members outside who live in cities teaching city farming and give lectures on sustainable life.
We first started as a spiritual group(Suseonjae). Founded in 1998, we have been doing the breathing practice. Through meditation for a couple of years, we got connected to various beings such as plants, animals, the great nature and even mother earth. The messages from them were all the same. – Humans are also part of nature and our original role was to become guidance of earth. They sadly said they almost lost hope from humans and they are losing faith and love they used to have for humans.
