A socially and environmentally responsible, economically viable rural subdivision north of Brisbane (Australia), Crystal Waters was established in 1987. It received the 1996 World Habitat Award (assessed by Dr Wally N’Dow) for its "pioneering work in demonstrating new ways of low impact, sustainable living".

83 freehold residential and 2 commercial lots occupy 20% of the 259ha (640 acre) property. The remaining 80% is the best land, and is owned in common. It can be licensed for sustainable agriculture, forestry, recreation and habitat projects.

Kaditah is an unrecognized, loosely organized village located in the Galilee of northern Israel. The residents are currently negotiating with the government concerning planned development of the village. Residents are all committed to living on the land and are involved with various ecological lifestyle practices. but there is little co-ordination. The Kaditah ecology center was founded to offer workshops, information and demonstration projects both to residents and to visitors and volunteers.

Tzivon is a small young kibbutz with an ecological vision located in the upper Galilee half way between the Mediterranean coast and the sea of the Galilee. The kibbutz is situated in the heart of an oak forest and is surrounded by nature reserves. The community's main project is the reforestation of 70 acres of severely eroded land. We are working to re-create the Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest indigenous to our area. The Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest is now close to total extinction as only 0.01% survives. This is a last moment effort to keep this very rich and beautiful Forest on earth.

The Beluga School for Life, is a learning village-community with about 240 inhabitants in the south of Thailand, in the province of Phang-Nga. Within the framework of the Thai Law, it provides shelter and education to 150 Thai children at risk, such as victims of the tsunami from 26th of December 2004, children with poor family backgrounds or abused children. The Beluga School for Life concept empowers these children to become successful socio- and eco- entrepreneurs in the future.

CityTree - Urban Ecology Community

CityTree is an Urban Ecology Community, with a few hunderd members, six of whom live in our eco-apartment, located in the heart of Tel Aviv. We are practicing a communal life style, and the flat is a showcase for urban sustainability. We experiment with composting, grey water reuse, urban agriculture, and more. We also host workshops and courses that have to do with a wide spectrum of ecology, starting from Raw Vegan classes, through Non-Violent Communication, and on to study groups around alternative economy.

VERTIGO Eco Art Village is a center for art and ecology located between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in Israel's rural Ellah Valley. At its heart is the Vertigo Dance Company, which founded the Village in order to foster artistic creation engaged with the environment.
