The Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) is a growing network of sustainable communities and initiatives that bridge different cultures, countries, and continents. GEN serves as umbrella organization for ecovillages, transition town initiatives, intentional communities, and ecologically-minded individuals worldwide.

People and communities meet and share their ideas, exchange technologies, develop cultural and educational exchanges, directories and newsletters, and are dedicated to restoring the land and living a cooperative sustainable lifestyle.

Sharaka, meaning 'partnership' in Arabic, is a Palestinian volunteer-run initiative that aims to support Palestinian farmers by promoting local seasonal and Palestinian produce and goods and by linking farmers and consumers directly. Our activities include community outreach and education through panel discussions and other events, School gardens and working with restaurants in Ramallah area to encourage the purchase of local seasonal produce from Palestinian farmers and to feature traditional dishes that celebrate the seasonal goodness of Palestine.

Communities in the delta area of Bangladesh are in grave danger of salt water inundation from huge tidal rivers that are increasingly breaking their banks. This can devastate villages, damage the simple houses and leave the locals struggling to grow crops in salinated soil. The Bangladesh Association of Sustainable Development (BASD), Gaia Education and CIFAL Scotland have responded to this dire situation with a 3-year consortium project.

Expressions of interest open for the possibility of a new village in Wollongong/Shellharbour area

Looking for like minded people interested in starting a community in the Illawarra region. Basic concept is based on the Narrara ecovillage project where members would own title to their own property.
Everyone pays a share of the block of land purchased and development costs and pays to build their own house. The community would collectively agree on any conditions of building eg. solar, water re-use and saving, visual conditions if applicable etc.
