Konohana Family is an agriculture-based community at the foot of Mt. Fuji where 85 non blood-related members live as one big family.
In 1994, 20 members found Konohana Farm, which then was renamed to Konohana Family. They aimed to establish a community where people can live together by supporting each other in Fujinomiya, Shizuoka, Japan.

It received the 1996 World Habitat Award (assessed by Dr Wally N’Dow) for its "pioneering work in demonstrating new ways of low impact, sustainable living".

83 freehold residential and 2 commercial lots occupy 20% of the 259ha (640 acre) property. The remaining 80% is the best land, and is owned in common. It can be licensed for sustainable agriculture, forestry, recreation and habitat projects.

In 2001, some volunteers gathered in Suzuka, Japan, aiming to realize a happy society free from fighting and opposition, in harmony with nature. A border-less community named “AS-ONE COMMUNITY” has been created in an ordinary neighborhood of Suzuka, a typical middle-size city and also well known as a city of the Honda company.

Kibbutz Lotan is located in the far South of Israel, 55 km. North of Eilat. It was founded by graduates of the Reform Jewish Youth movements of America and Israel in 1983. The population of the community fluctuates between 150-200 people. "Members" of the cooperative fluctuate between 45-65, with between 40 and 70 children. The community is multi-generational with parents of members living in the community by renting houses as do numerous families who are considering joining.

We first started as a spiritual group(Suseonjae). Founded in 1998, we have been doing the breathing practice. Through meditation for a couple of years, we got connected to various beings such as plants, animals, the great nature and even mother earth. The messages from them were all the same. – Humans are also part of nature and our original role was to become guidance of earth. They sadly said they almost lost hope from humans and they are losing faith and love they used to have for humans.

Patanga

Patanga

Patanga formed from a group of people living in Sydney who purchased the land and formed a company structure (Memorandum of Association) to enable people to live together. The vision was to become a healing community and also to work in cooperation with nature and the land. Two thirds of the community is on mains power, the other is on solar. Cars are used for private transport. The property is a wildlife refuge registered with the Dept. of National Parks and Wildlife. Patanga is certified bio-dynamic. Spirituality is a commonality. Community work days are held each week.

Bangladesh is one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world, and according to the IPCC is expected to become even more so as a result of climate change. Floods, cyclones, tornados, and riverbank erosion, often occurring simultaneously, have had an impact on the lives and livelihoods of people living in coastal areas such as the Khulna and Bagerhat Districts of Southern Bangladesh.

Atamai Village

Planning began in 2006 to establish a sustainable settlement for at least 50 families. The driver was a shared concern for the dramatic changes coming from climate chaos and energy descent. Our design considerations have taken these emerging processes into account.
Atamai is based on a traditional village design and enhanced by permaculture principles. We have overengineered much of the infrastructure to provide the necessary resilience for what is coming.

Maia Earth Village is an intuitive healing and spiritual community that has interests in raw food, permaculture and what is called innerdance process. The Village was founded initially by Pi Villaraza and members of the innerdance communities around the world and is now independently run by like-minded residents that act as caretakers of this sacred 7-hectare land. The Beluga School for Life, is a learning village-community with about 240 inhabitants in the south of Thailand, in the province of Phang-Nga. Within the framework of the Thai Law, it provides shelter and education to 150 Thai children at risk, such as victims of the tsunami from 26th of December 2004, children with poor family backgrounds or abused children. The Beluga School for Life concept empowers these children to become successful socio- and eco- entrepreneurs in the future.

As One community started around 14 years ago.
As One community activities are based on the studies of human and societies,
especially essential social systems for implementation to create sustainable communities.
At first, studies started in 2000 and then the Scienz Institute, a Non-Government-Organization, was
established in 2004. Their investigations led to the Scienz School which is also an NGO.
And now, every month, we have seven courses for the public from beginner level
to advanced level in the Scienz School in Suzuka, Japan.

VERTIGO Eco Art Village is a center for art and ecology located between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in Israel's rural Ellah Valley. At its heart is the Vertigo Dance Company, which founded the Village in order to foster artistic creation engaged with the environment. Other artists – visual artists and writers, experts in permaculture, builders and artists whose medium is earth – joined and co-visioned the project in its early stages, and continue to develop the project in partnership with Vertigo.

It has saline-alkali soil everywhere, with long and hot days but a large temperature difference between day and night. The residents are currently negotiating with the government concerning planned development of the village. Residents are all committed to living on the land and are involved with various ecological lifestyle practices. but there is little co-ordination. Hua Tao ecovillage is in Chongzhou, Chengdu, the land of abundance. And there are several interesting places around us, such as Anren ancient town, Confucius International School and a agricultural base. In the ecovillage, living area with green buildings is about 9 acres, and it is surrounded by 40 acres of farmland. The density of buildings here is 39.6%, and the green coverage is 45.9%.

Conservation was and is the prime objective, with housing and living designed to minimise impact on the land. Community work parties are held in order to manage the land. (weeding, species regeneration, facilities maintenance)Houses are principally mud brick and owner built, with small gardens because of the low rainfall (500mm). Open days are occasionally held through environmental groups. No facilities for tourism.
