The Syrian Initiative Craftsmanship
An Ecovillage project
The Syrian Initiative Craftsmanship Ecovillage (SICE) is a newly formed NGO (April 1st 2015) driven by a group of Syrian refugees and Swedes in Uppsala, Sweden. Our aim is to empower migrants and other Syrians to take control of their own lives, integrate into Swedish society, and do so in an inexpensive and ecologically sustainable way. We also find different ways to job possibilities for our residents in our Ecovillage.

Just came from an inspiring phone call exploring social entrepreneurship and financing support for refugees and internally displaced peoples around the world. This reminded me to share the work of the Syrian Initiative Craftsmanship Ecovillage in Sweden led by Fayez Karimeh, a member of the Global Ecovillage Network. They empower migrants and other Syrians to take control of their own lives, integrate into Swedish society, and do so in an inexpensive and ecologically sustainable way. Through craftsmanship, they find different ways for job possibilities for their Syrian residents in the ecovillage. They are currently crowdfunding to continue their work. If you are wanting to contribute support to the Syrian refugee crisis, this is a more sustainable and long term option using ecovillage and permaculture solutions.
